Question & Answer  ------

I was asked today if the Kangaroostaurant uses our beef.  YES they do.  They use only Venneford Farm beef.  This week I had their bacon cheeseburger soup.  It was a great choice for a cold day.  I also took along a container and bag and bought supper to go.  They put the shredded beef in the container for me and the buns in the bag so I could put it together myself when I got home from work.

Kangaroostaurant also makes Christmas Cookies and fudge, check out their website.

ALSO, The Free Market on Wisconsin Ave. in Appleton will be re-stocking on our pork on Saturday morning before the farm market, Nov 12.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS:

1 pound lean ground beef
http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/familyfun2005/images/COMMON/bullet_small.gif
1/2 teaspoon salt
http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/familyfun2005/images/COMMON/bullet_small.gif
1/4 teaspoon pepper
http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/familyfun2005/images/COMMON/bullet_small.gif
1/4 cup olive oil
http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/familyfun2005/images/COMMON/bullet_small.gif
1 small onion, chopped
http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/familyfun2005/images/COMMON/bullet_small.gif
1 small garlic clove, minced
http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/familyfun2005/images/COMMON/bullet_small.gif
1 (16-ounce) box hot-roll mix (we used Pillsbury)
http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/familyfun2005/images/COMMON/bullet_small.gif
1 1/4 cups warm water
http://familyfun.go.com/Resources/familyfun2005/images/COMMON/bullet_small.gif
10 slices American cheese or your favorite cheese
Heat the oven to 375° F. Brown the beef in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off the fat and stir in the salt and pepper. Transfer the beef to a bowl and set it aside.
2. Heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil in the skillet and sauté the onion and garlic for about 1 1/2 minutes. Stir in the beef.
3. In a large bowl, combine the roll mix, water, and 2 tablespoons of the olive oil. Stir until the dough is formed. Turn it out onto a floured surface and knead it for 5 minutes. Line a 10- by 15-inch cookie sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease the paper. Place the dough on the sheet, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rest for 5 minutes.
4. Press the dough out to the edges of the cookie sheet and slice it lengthwise to create two 5- by 15-inch rectangles. Sprinkle the beef mixture over the two doughs and top it with the slices of American cheese.
5. Fold over about 1 inch of the short ends, then roll up each rectangle the long way to create 2 loaves. Pinch the ends closed. Reposition the loaves so they're evenly spaced on the cookie sheet and brush the tops with the remaining olive oil. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let the loaves cool for about 7 minutes before slicing. Makes 24 servings.

A farm family

Many of you may remember my daughters helping me with the farm market for many years.  Well, these are their kids.
They both married dairy farmers.  Actually, they married brothers.
This was taken at Brett's house for JoJoe's birthday.
Boy is it hard getting little kids to all look forward at the same time....

Saturday at the market

I am looking forward to the farm market Saturday.
You can tell the seasons are changing by what you find at the farm market.

I will be restocked on the Shaved Roast Beef Lunch Meat and the Chicken Lunch Meat.

Tenderloin is in short supply right now, you might want to reserve ahead if you want it for this weekend.

see you Saturday at the market.
